Location is good, only 40 minutes from the airport and right on the beach at Trou d’Eau Douce. The hotel gives a quick welcome massage whilst your checking in which is always good after a flight. We weren’t able to access our room until 2pm on arrival but we were able to use the facilities and all inclusive bar straight away. TRIPADVISOR - Xchefie - 23 Jun 2019 - - - Great hotel but won't be returning - - - 1st. Time in Mauritius and we had a lovely stay. The hotel setting was picture perfect. The beach was well kept and at pied e tierra. No beaches on Mauritius are private so people wonder willy nilly on the beach including feral dogs at times upto four or five amongst the beds looking for food. There is security on guard stationed on the beach ( not entirely sure what for) but they never shoo dogs away. A negative is that it is the windiest side of the island and an anti cyclone blew most of the time during our stay. Some days stronger than others. We hired a taxi from outside the hotel which the drivers arrange between themselves on a rota basis who you get. It cost us 3000 rupee for a full day which we thought it was good value. I would also like to recommend Papa Dreams, an water activities company based in Trou eau douce. Do not book with guys holding its brochures on the beach. Ring them directly and they pick you up. We had a fantastic day doing the five Islands snorkeling, lobster bbq on the beach etc. We met a couple who rented a car and they offered for us to join them exploring the South of the island. My advice is don't rent a car in Mauritius it's a nigtmare. There is no sat nav. The road signs are almost non existent and the few there are simply stop. The roads are narrow and zig zag so It take for ever to navigate around this island. My advise would be rent a taxi with a driver. The hotel was very clean and their swimming pool and beach was lovely to use. There was a nice play area in the hotel premises, near their beach for young kids that my daughter enjoyed and the entertainment in the evening at the hotel was very good, with the highlight being the Sega show. I'll begin with the good stuff, the hotel is beautiful and is as pictured, the walk through at the beginning to the pool is great, nice layout and definitely a plus. My girlfriend used the spa services and was really pleased with the service and the price range for what was available. Now for the negatives: Also, we hired a car and as their was limited parking out front (about 6 spaces or so usually filled with taxis) we had to give our keys each time to reception in case they needed to rearrange cars, not usually an issue however on 3 occasions we were blocked in and it took over 10-15 minutes at times to move around to get us out which almost made us miss some excursions. The hotel is located on a beautiful beach and the natural lagoon is perfect for snorkelling. The beach is so good that closest we came to the pool was passing it on the way from our room to the beach! The beach bar is perfectly located and always staffed. The hotel is billed as a three star hotel which is probably little low. It is not the Four Seasons or Shangi La but is a brilliantly unpretentious hotel with great service.
