External Review's Review of DEMO HOTEL MUSGRAVE

1 How would you rate your overall stay and our facilities and amenities?

TRIPADVISOR - Zubair H - 19 Feb 2019- - - Beautiful hotel, massively let down by lack of service - - - Zilwa Attitude is no doubt a beautiful hotel, with amazing views, very clean rooms, and a nice natural decor. We stayed at Zilwa for 10 nights in February, and upon arrival were very pleasantly surprised by the beauty of the hotel and the views. The beaches and islands are beautiful. The 'rainy-day' programs are really good, with planned activities in the main bar area when its raining out. The beachfront room we booked wasn't truly beachfront, it was garden front just 'near' a small beach section. My biggest issue overall, is having to book the good restaurants, and being told that the chef's can only accommodate a maximum of 15-20 diners A DAY across two dinner sittings. I would definitely not return to Zilwa simply based on this fact, everything else I could live with. (https://tinyurl.com/y2r56agv)

2 How did our team look after you during your stay with us?

The waiters and bar staff also have a lot to learn about service; often bringing us the wrong food/drinks given what we ordered, or a different variation of the same drinks each time. I like drinking what I order, maybe I'm picky, but I don't like surprise variations in what I have ordered. We often had to get up and find a bar member ourselves to order drinks. The bar waiters would usually wander around, but rarely approached tables to ask if anyone wanted a drink, and it was difficult to flag them down in the darkened lighting. There were a couple of great bar staff who were always very attentive, and gave great service - its a major shame that this service was not consistant. The housekeeping staff were good, always cleaned the room well, and sometimes up to 3 times a day! We waited in Lor Disab for 55 minutes between ordering and receiving our starters. No wonder the chefs can't accomodate more people as the service is extremely slow, and the two dinner sittings overlap 90% of the diners.

3 How would you rate our food and beverages?

We ate at the buffet restaurant on the first night, which was average - I wouldn't have eaten there again. We then found out that to eat at the nicer restaurants, we had to book them - which was fine at first, but the restaurants became fully booked so quickly that most visitors who arrived after us were stuck with eating at the rubbish buffet restaurant. As we paid for an all-inclusive package, I would expect to be able to eat where I wanted, when I wanted, and not have to decide days in advance - but that was not the case. (The BBQ lunch on Gran Zil Island was really good). Otherwise, the bookable restaurants do have amazing food; most notably Lor Disab (beach restaurant) and Kot Nou (Mauritian).
