External Review's Review of DEMO HOTEL MUSGRAVE

1 How would you rate your overall stay and our facilities and amenities?

TRIPADVISOR - 77RobinS - 11 Feb 2019 - - - A fantastic week - - - My wife and I stayed for a week in a Couples Deluxe Beachfront Room at this hotel and really enjoyed our week there. We were on the “all inclusive” tariff so there was really nothing else to pay for during our stay other than external excursions. If we had any criticisms it was: - 1. The hotel guidance notes stated quite clearly that in the evening shorts were not permitted in the restaurants. However although I wore long trousers each evening I must say I was definitely in the minority. Question, why have this rule if it is not enforced? It is pointless as the majority of male guests ignored this rule and got away with it. It did make me a bit cross as I had made the effort but so many other guests had not and got away with it! 2. It became increasingly apparent that guests were pre-reserving loungers around the pools and on the beaches well in advance (probably in some cases long before they went to breakfast) without physically occupying those seats until sometime later. We saw one example where a couple placed their towels on loungers on the beach and then departed on an excursion not returning until 3.00pm that afternoon to claim those seats. This is completely unfair and selfish and deprived other guests of using those seats. As a guest I can say that there is nothing more irritating than seeing lots of loungers in prime positions left unoccupied as a result of selfish people monopolising them. 2 How did our team look after you during your stay with us?

I believe the hotel management need to instigate a much more rigorous system whereby if seats with towels and other personal items have not been occupied for more than one hour the towels etc should be removed by hotel personnel so other guests can make use of the seats. The only reason they get away with it is because the hotel takes no action!

3 How would you rate our rooms? (if applicable)

The room was well situated overlooking one of the resort’s beaches and had good facilities including a very comfortable double bed, efficient shower and separate toilet and a large balcony with chairs and table. On initial impressions the room appeared basic but it soon became apparent that this was deliberate to provide an “authentic” Mauritian feel.

4 How would you rate our food and beverages?

In terms of dining there was plenty of choice from the main buffet restaurant ( open for breakfast, lunch and dinner) to a variety of other restaurants including Indian, Chinese etc. Other than the main buffet restaurant all other restaurants required reservations for dinner ( normally two sittings) and some dishes commanded a supplement even if you were on the “all inclusive” tariff. Quality of food and service was exemplary and frankly could not be faulted.
