TRIPADVISOR - Tashie1x - 22 May 2019 - - - Wedding in Paradise - - - After researching a number of hotels to hold our overseas wedding we finally decided to book with Zilwa and we were not disappointed. Upon arrival we were greeted with a flannel and a cold drink, not forgetting the most beautiful view. The check-in process was smooth and soon after we arrived we were taken to our room. Trips. Whilst we were in Mauritius we decided to do the swim with dolphins and whale watch trip along with a tour of the south. If you are a lover of dolphins then I recommend that you book this. It was incredible to be able to swim with them in their own environment. We were lucky with the whales and managed to see 6 sperm whales. (https://tinyurl.com/y3djncmd)
Throughout the stay we found all staff polite and friendly. Even just walking around the hotel grounds the staff would say hello and ask how you were. Additional praise to Keshav (boat bar) and Yuvraj (mainly saw in the main bar) who always made sure we had drinks and would always stop to talk to us. The Wedding. We met with our wedding coordinators Kim and Karishma on the day after we arrived. Both are experienced in what they are doing and made us feel relaxed about the whole day. They were always on hand if we had any questions. We ran through every detail of the day including anything additional we wanted. I already had a lot of communication with the hotel prior to our arrival to book a few items for the wedding. The responses to my emails were always the same day where possible. We chose to have our wedding on Gran-Zil and opted to stay for the evening where we had a BBQ. We also surprised out guests with a sega show and live band both of which I can highly recommend. They didn't expect it at all! On the day I used the spa for my hair and makeup along with my bridesmaids. I was cautious about the makeup part however, it was exactly what I wanted. All of the staff including Kim and Karishma made sure the whole day went to plan. It was just perfect.
The rooms were spacious and clean and had everything we needed.
The Food. We were lucky enough to try all of the a la carte restaurants which I cannot fault any of them. Even the buffet restaurant had a large range of food every evening. I recommend booking for the a la carte on the day of arrival especially if you are a bigger group. As part of our wedding / honeymoon package we were entitled to two dinners on the beach at Lor Disab both of which were very tasty. I highly recommend the pancakes at 4pm!
