Overall in my opinion this holiday experience and the hotel exceeded all my expectations and I’d recommend this to anybody.
TRIPADVISOR - Lelcath - 19 May 2019 - - - Absolute Bliss - - - On arrival at the Zilwa attitude our first impression was that we had really hit the jackpot. The check in procedure - 7/10. Fairly slow and could have been much more informative but, after an 11 hour flight and a 90 minute transfer I doubt we’d have taken too much notice of any information given to us anyway. The beach - 7/10. Plenty of sun beds, good beach bars, good beach restaurant, excellent street food area. Free use of table tennis, surf boards, snorkel equipment, canoes and pedelos etc. Beach sellers - These are always lurking around but they’re not pushy, very handy if you want to book a trip or purchase a few souvenirs. Pool areas. Didn’t use these as they seemed to be designed more for the children but they looked lovely, clean, well designed and safe. Gardens and hotel surrounds - 10/10. Extremely well maintained throughout the whole resort. Entertainment 6/10. Seen better and seen worse. Location 8/10. Peaceful area but to do any excursions the travel time is usually a minimum of at least 40 minutes. There is also a children’s entertainment area, tennis and volleyball court. Sadly, I’m writing this review on the final day of my holiday sat on my sun bed overlooking the beautiful Indian Ocean and not looking forward to going back home very early tomorrow morning. Carte restaurants - 9/10. Beautiful fresh food, well presented and excellent service. Hotel Bar - 9/10. Good range of food and drinks, service a tad slow at the busier times.
Sadly, we had to wait 5 hours for our room to become available due to room changeovers but, we were delighted that there were shower rooms made available for us and that we could make use of all the hotels facilities.The rooms - 8/10. Clean, spacious, peaceful with a well stocked mini bar which was restocked daily. The showers aren’t the best in the world but they’re definitely not the worst either.
The food in the main buffet restaurant - 8/10. Excellent variety of food and always fresh but, not always piping hot. Individual a’la Carte restaurants - 9/10. Beautiful fresh food, well presented and excellent service. Hotel Bar - 9/10. Good range of food and drinks, service a tad slow at the busier times. If you get an invite to the managers cocktail evening I’d advise not to bother going as the cocktails weren’t great and I’m not sure if the manager actually even bothered to go him / herself. My only real criticism about this holiday is that the restaurant needs to provide a decent bread knife to enable guests to cut the beautiful fresh bread on offer rather than having to use the current knife like a machete.
